Obama to Meet Ahmadinejad

Written by Reza Kahlili on August 12th, 2010

In an interview on CNN recently, President Obama’s national security adviser, Gen James Jones, indicated that the President could meet with Ahmadinejad if the Islamic Regime resumed negotiations over its nuclear program. The general went on to say, “One thing they might do is return our three hikers. That would be an important gesture. It could lead to better relations,” Jones said, speaking about an opening move to jumpstart discussions.

Earlier, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had requested a meeting with President Obama during the upcoming UN general assembly, but in front of the media, to debate whose solutions are better to manage the world. Ahmadinejad has often claimed that the best solution for the world’s management is the Islamic way, insisting that both Capitalism and Communism have failed. He has also boasted that America is at the end of its superiority, stressing the demise of America and Israel will happen soon.

While our demands for the freedom of Josh, Shane and Sarah (the three American hikers imprisoned in Iran) should be a top priority, we should not appease the hostage takers. History has shown that the Iranian leaders have only gotten more emboldened and continue on with their destructive behavior. They see our overtures as a sign of weakness.

President Obama started out his foreign policy toward Iran by turning his back on the Iranian people and their aspirations for freedom by legitimizing the rule of Iran’s barbaric rulers when he called Iran the Islamic Republic of Iran. He compounded this mistake by continuing to send multiple appeasement messages to the Iranian leaders in the hopes of reaching a settlement with respect to Iran’s nuclear issues and better relations. He should have learned by now that the clerical establishment ruling Iran is not interested in better relations. Their main interest continues to be the demise of the West and Islam ruling the world.

The Iranian leaders have persistently pronounced that America can’t do a damn thing about what Iran does—that America must be dreaming if they think Iran would give up its nuclear program.

The Iranians have now installed and activated a second set of their more efficient centrifuges at the Natanz fuel enrichment plant, enriching to the 20% level. It is worth noting that experts say the technical requirement to get to 90% enrichment from 20% is relatively straightforward, because it becomes easier at higher levels. Going from the natural state of 0.7% enrichment to 20% takes 90% of the total energy required.

It is time for President Obama to do the right thing. It is time for him to acknowledge that it is delusional to believe the rulers of Iran will change their behavior. He needs to face reality and understand their philosophy, which in a nutshell, is to bring about the end of times with Islam conquering the world.

It is time to have courage and commitment to the principles of the United States of America. It is time to voice support for freedom and democracy and to help Iranians rid themselves of this cruel regime. This regime has committed genocide by executing minorities, brutally killing tens of thousands of political prisoners who are buried in mass graves. They are still raping, torturing and executing Iranian boys and girls as enemies of God for no other reason than their desire for freedom. This regime has its hands in the blood of our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. This regime is involved in worldwide terrorism, arming Hezbollah, Hamas, Taliban and Al Qaeda. This is a regime that harbors officials who are known terrorists with many wanted by courts around the world and Interpol.

Wouldn’t it be the morally right thing to do to stop Ahmadinejad from entering the U.S. with his usual rants about our destruction and demise and instead charge him and all the leaders of Iran with crimes against humanity for their brutal clamp down on innocent civilians who want democracy? Wouldn’t it be right to call them out for their inhumane treatment of political prisoners—the rapes, tortures, and hangings? Wouldn’t it be better to extend a hand to the Iranian people instead, letting them know that we will help them free themselves from this tyranny?

I urge President Obama to the right thing and stand with the Iranian nation and resist their oppressors. President Obama should understand that Iran’s rulers will get their hands on the nuclear bomb and not only destroy Iran, but the rest of the world—unless we stop them before it’s too late.

    Dear Reza,

I wonder why? Why this world has turned upside down! why the supposedly leader of the Free World turned his back to human rights and genocide and wants to handshake with the bloody hands of Ahmadinejad. Did something happen in the last two decades in the white house that is destroying the very American values that we laid our hopes on?! While the Islamic regime lobbyists are Freely browsing Washington and spending money and try to put a nice face on Mullahs regime our youth are dying everyday in their small cells for Liberty.
When did this happen ? Is this an end to America and American values?! or Is this another grand bargain? This is not only against basic human right and rights of Iranian people but it is against the very existance of America, While Hezbullah is training it’s cells in Mexico and other south American countries, White house remains mute and confused. what is this mess??!! President Obama, is this for real??!!!

    Dear Hooman,

I wonder too. You see history shows when world remains silent in the face of atrocities then worst things happen but when world leaders unite and resent such actions then lives are saved and future becomes much brighter. How long will it take them to wake up? I just hope its much sooner than later!
