Iranians by the tens of thousands (a crowd much larger than on FEB 14th) took to the streets to respond to the call of the opposition to commemorate the fallen protesters, Sanee Zhaleh and Mohammad Mokhtari, who lost their lives as a result of state brutality during pro-opposition demonstrations on February 14th in which over 1,500 were arrested and many injured.
Once again people filled the streets of Tehran, Isfahan, Rasht, Shiraz, Tabriz, Mahabad and other major cities shouting “death to the dictator” and “I will kill those who killed my brother” or “Mubarak, Ben Ali, by the New Year, Seyed Ali,” saying Seyed Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader, will also be gone by the Iranian New Year in March. Other slogans were:“We did not get killed so that we compromise, and praise the murderer leader ” and “Seyyed Ali, hope you die and see Ben Ali (deposed Tunisian dictator).” People set fire to trash cans to fight back tear gas being used by government forces. Skirmishes broke out in many areas of Tehran and also other cities across Iran, between the demonstrators and government forces who were using brutal force. Basijis on bikes attacked people with batons, chains and knifes. Basij forces were also using ambulances to get into the crowds and then arrest people. Other security forces were placed on rooftops where snipers were seen shooting at people. Reports from inside Iran indicate security forces using live ammunition, several have been killed and many injured. Demonstrations are continuing into the night.
Iranians are risking their lives to rid the world of this jihadist regime. The Free World can help them by strongly supporting their efforts as they struggle for freedom. The West should make their voices heard and condemn the Iranian leaders for their continuing crimes against their own people.
