Defense Secretary Robert Gates Warns the White House

Written by Reza Kahlili on April 18th, 2010

An article published by The New York Times on April 17th reveals that Defense Secretary Robert Gates sent a three page memo earlier this year to top U.S. officials at the White House warning about the lack of a specific policy toward curbing Iran’s nuclear drive.

It seems a bit shocking that the defense secretary has to resort to sending memos to wake up our top officials. Why doesn’t he just meet with the President himself and state his case for a policy change? I mean he is the secretary of defense!

However, history shows that this is nothing new. Every U.S. administration has vacillated on the Iran issue in the hopes of achieving some sort of agreement with the Iranian mullahs.

Just recently, another article in the U.S. media reported about the possible use of speed boats by the Revolutionary Guards to create instability in the Persian Gulf. In the early 80s, I told the CIA about the Guards’ training with the speed boats. Their rational for using the smaller speed boats was that any big ship could be destroyed in minutes by the U.S. Navy forces present in the area, but thousands of smaller boats carrying explosives and missiles could create havoc for any enemy. So why are we just now becoming concerned?

For quite awhile, I have been reporting that the mullahs in Iran are pursuing their nuclear projects in order to obtain the nuclear bomb. Any appeasement or extended hand will not change their behavior. Their pursuit of the bomb is directly related to their belief in Islam conquering the world.

President Obama needs to face this reality and take the appropriate steps to stop Iran from acquiring the nuclear bomb — and he needs to do it now.

The lives of millions of people, Iranians and others, are at stake here. The future of the world depends on what we do today.

    Dear Mr. Kahlili;
    I want to thank you for the sacrifices and courage you have given in the cause of freedom. I know many Iranians yearn for freedom. I believe however, that the current administration is more about “power” than “principle, what is right,etc.” When ambition and power are the “modus operandi”, tragic compromises will, and are, being made. Americans do not understand Islam, particularly the messianic branch, and therefore the fruitless efforts via negotiation, dialogue. Now that Obama’s leadership will now be measured by how this is dealt with, he will succumb to the weight of the principles versus his natural inclination- to cozy up to such leaders. I am sorry there will be subsequent death and carnage, effecting innocents. I pray they are protected, and that the enemies of “the people” will be destroyed. Iran’s enemy is not America of the West, but the fascist government that rules over them.
    Thank you again,
    Ron

      Dear Ron,

      Thank you for your kind words. I agree with you that the enemy of the Iranian people is the fanatical regime in Tehran. Lets pray for a free Iran and a brighter future for the world.

      God Bless,

      Reza
