April 27 2013- Counter-terrorism expert, Reza Khalili, accepted an interview with Alexander Backman where he gave Conciencia Radio his input into the Boston Bombings and how Iran could be related to the attacks. Khalili explained the type of bombs used, how the Tsarnaev brothers were really used as pawns or ‘burned assets’ and that these attacks were planned well in advance. The interview sheds light into the aim and scope that proxy state-sponsored terrorism has on America and the West.

Wednesday March 20th, Iranians will ring in the New Year. The Iranian New Year “Norouz” meaning “new day,” always begins on the first day of spring. It represents two ancient symbolic concepts: End and Rebirth, or, more specifically, the end of evil and rebirth of good.
Ever since the Islamic revolution of 1979, the clerics have tried in vein to stop Iranians from celebrating their long tradition of Norouz. However Iranians, though under suppression, have not given in and continue to be proud of their Persian heritage.
Awaiting arrival of Norouz, Iranians prepare the haft sin. Parents would tell their children about the haft sin, or the seven ‘S’s. The haft sin sofreh includes seven items starting with the letter S: sabzeh: sprouts, which symbolize rebirth; samanu: a sweet pudding made from wheat germ symbolizing affluence; senjed: the dried fruit of the oleaster tree, symbolizing love; siib: apple, which symbolize beauty; somaq: sumac, symbolizing sunrise; serkeh: vinegar, symbolizing age and patience; and sombol: hyacinth, to denote the coming of spring.
For the remaining thirteen days of our New Year celebration, Iranians gather together and party. Relatives come and visit the older members of the family and then in return, the elders would pay their respect by visiting them back. On the last day, as is the tradition, Iranians go picnicking in the suburbs area, dancing, singing, and playing outside until the night forces them back to their homes.
I pray to God that with this New Year, we will see the end of evil in our land, where Iranians will finally celebrate their freedom from this thugocracy that has plunged Iran into one of the darkest chapters in its history. I wish that with this New Year, the flowers will bloom, the laughter will come back, and peace and love will embrace us all. I wish that all those courageous souls defying evil and now in captivity by this barbaric regime will soon experience the sweet taste of victory.
Let us raise our fists with all our compatriots still fighting this brutal regime and demand a free Iran. Our country deserves so much better.
Happy New Year to all Iranians.
Since the release of “Argo,” several Iranian officials have criticized the movie. Regime media reported this week that Iran has hired a French lawyer, Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, to sue the movie’s producers in international court, although the media did not say on what basis.
The regime’s media, since the production of “Argo,” have attacked Hollywood for what they call the production of “anti-Iran” movies. Citing “unrealistic portrayal” of the Iranian people, they attacked actor George Clooney as one of the two writers of “Argo” and for his producing the “anti-Islam” movie “Syriana.” They also cite the “Zionist company” Warner Brothers for filming “Argo” and the “anti-Iran” movie “300.”
Regime media also point to the upcoming production of a miniseries based on “A Time to Betray” by Kahlili, who in his youth traveled to America to continue his education. Upon his return after the 1979 revolution, he lost hope in the direction of the country, returned to America, hooked up with the CIA and became a spy in the Revolutionary Guards.
This “anti-Iran” miniseries, the regime media said, is to be produced by actor William Baldwin and Warren Kohler.
The regime media published an image of Kahlili alongside former CIA director James Woolsey that mistakenly referred to Woolsey as Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the former candidate for the Republican Party presidential nomination.
Gerdab.Ir, a Revolutionary Guards media outlet, attacked Kahlili for his call for support of the Iranian people to bring about regime change in Iran.

Fordow fuel enrichment plant – DigitalGlobe image on day of reported explosion, Jan. 21, 2013
The latest IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear program and its activities came out on February 21 and one thing was immediately clear: The last physical inspection of Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP) was between November 17, 2012 and December 3, 2012.
In an exclusive story on WND on January 24 with updates on January 27, 29, 30, 31, February 3, 6,13, 23 and 24, I reported that an explosion had occurred at the Fordow plant in Iran on January 21, which at first trapped 219 workers, including 16 North Koreans, 14 technicians and two military attachés.
Within days after Iran’s denial, and in a coordinated effort, both Reuters and the AP ran stories quoting the IAEA that its inspectors had been at the site after the reported explosion and that the IAEA backed Iran’s denial. This in turn fueled other media to conclude the same thing.
On January 29, Reuters published a report about the IAEA’s email response to an inquiry as to the status of Fordow, which read in part:
“[…]IAEA inspectors regularly visit Iranian nuclear sites, including the one at Fordow, and the U.N. agency suggested in its comment that they had been at the facility after the reports of an explosion there.
“We understand that Iran has denied that there has been an incident at Fordow. This is consistent with our observations,” IAEA spokeswoman Gill Tudor said in an emailed statement in response to a question…”
Later that day the AP ran a similar story:
“The U.N. nuclear agency is dismissing reports of a major explosion at Iran’s fortified underground nuclear facility.
“International Atomic Energy Agency spokeswoman Gill Tudor told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Iran’s denial of “an incident” at the Fordo uranium enrichment plant is ‘consistent with our observations.’ [...]
“A diplomat familiar with the issue told the AP that the IAEA’s information came directly from IAEA inspectors at Fordo. [...]”
It is clear now that both agencies put out incorrect information.
According to the latest IAEA’s report, there are no inspectors stationed at Fordow, and there are no cameras monitoring the site on behalf of the IAEA.
DigitalGlobe image Jan. 21, 2013 – Across from Fordow Plant, written on the mountain in Farsi: “Fadayat Rahbar,” to be sacrificed for the leader – and in smaller print: “Sar Allah,” shedding blood for Allah, or blood for the path of Allah
However, it was not just the media misrepresenting the facts to suppress the report of the explosion at Fordow, the IAEA also is to blame.
When asked by WND, the IAEA spokeswoman, Gill Tudor would not confirm or deny the incident.
“The agency does not evaluate matters in Iran other than those directly relating to its nuclear verification work, so although we’re aware of these media reports, we are not in a position either to confirm or deny them,” Tudor said in an email to WND.
“That said,” she continued, “I’m sure you are aware that agency inspectors regularly visit Iranian nuclear facilities under the IAEA’s safeguards agreement with that country. (You will find more information on the IAEA’s safeguards mandate and activities in Iran at http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/focus/iaeairan/index.shtml.)
“We understand Iran has denied that there has been an incident at Fordow, and this is consistent with our observations,” Tudor said.
However, in a follow-up inquiry by WND to verify if the IAEA had inspected the site since the report of the explosions, Tudor refused to answer.
“I’m very sorry but I can’t go into any further details on ongoing safeguards work, which is conducted with a high level of confidentiality,” she replied.
Again from the official reports by the IAEA on Iran’s nuclear facilities, it is clear that though there are regular visits at Natanz, there are no regular visits to Fordow. The IAEA has to obtain permission from the Iranian counterparts for an arranged and escorted visit.
Even the regime’s Fars News Agency in a report on February 21 (reflecting the recent IAEA report), confessed that the information on the Fordow facility stating that it is still up and running, came directly from Iran itself when it filed the required Design Information Questioner with the IAEA. This is again clear in the February 21 IAEA report reflecting information on the operation of Fordow per the DIQ filed by Iran.
So basically the officials of the Islamic regime ruling Iran denied that an explosion had occurred at their most valuable nuclear site and that denial became a fact for the IAEA to testify that no such an event had taken place. That in turn became the verification for the media to run with their story, which, of course, was more exaggerated to make a good headline.
We have an expression in Iran which goes like this: They asked the fox: Who is your witness? The fox replied, “My tail.”
The paperback edition of “A Time to Betray” hit the market today with a new cover. The book has been optioned for a TV miniseries and more good news will soon be released.

—Sayeh Hassan, Canada Free Press
“This is the first inside account by someone so strategically placed. Without embellishing, Khalili manages to convey the horror of Iran’s regime after the downfall of the Shah. Everyone with an interest in the region or in U.S. foreign policy or in real-life espionage will be interested.”
—Marcia L. Sprules, Library Journal
“It’s a compelling read, one that not only talks about the true nature of the Iranian regime but also of the Iranian people, who have now twice tried to free themselves from the yoke of lunatic mullahs trying to destroy the entire world for their dreams of eternal power.”
—Ed Morrissey, Hot Air
“A perfectly crafted memoir. . . . An enthralling portrait of a country impacted by religious and political extremism. What makes A Time to Betray so powerful is two fold: First, the story reads like a John Grisham novel. Second, the narrative is refreshingly objective. Throughout his gripping journey, Kahlili ping-pongs between being a devoted son of Iran and a U.S. supporter.. . . . An astonishing read that will have you rethinking what you know about the Middle East.”
—Nicholas Addison Thomas, The Free Lance-Star (Fredericksburg, VA)
“One of those rare books that grabs you from the very first page—from the very first sentence, in fact—and will not let you go until it is over.”
“A Time To Betray is certainly a thriller, with Iranian intelligence always only one step behind Kahlili’s next move. But Kahlili also writes about an idyllic
childhood and illustrates the Iran that disappeared after Ayatollah Khomeini’s revolution.”
“Far and away the best book I’ve read this year. . . . I literally couldn’t put it down. It’s a spy story so riveting and a love story so moving that at times I found myself having a hard time breathing, and other times was wiping away tears.”
—Joel C. Rosenberg, New York Times bestselling author of Implosion
“The story Kahlili tells—of the Iranian revolution and how he came to despise it—is genuinely powerful. . . . Indeed, people in the Iranian operations division at the CIA should welcome A Time to Betray as a virtual recruitment poster.”
—David Ignatius, Washington Post Book World
“A beautiful human story.”
—Billy Baldwin, actor/producer
DEBKAfile in its report on a mysterious twin-car bomb explosion at Syrian regional intelligence headquarters, has also covered my report on an explosion at the Iranian nuclear site, the Fordo facility. Interestingly, DEBKAfile refers to CIA’s involvement and distances Israel from such covert operation but at the same time in the last paragraph of the report, talks about a promotion to Israel’s Military Intelligence Director Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi for outstanding covert operations!
…Meanwhile in Iran itself, the Fordo underground uranium enrichment plant was again reported targeted for sabotage, according to an unconfirmed report published by Reza Kahlil, who is described as a former Iranian Revolutionary Guards officer who worked under cover as a double agent for the CIA until he escaped to the United States.
Kahlil reported that at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, the day before Israel’s general elections, a large explosion occurred 100 meters deep inside the underground plant, trapping 240 nuclear staff in the third centrifuge chamber. Among them, he said, were Iranian and Ukrainian technicians.
There was no information about casualties or the extent of damage to the 2,700 centrifuges which have been turning out 20-percent enriched uranium.
Khalil cited his source as Hamidreza Zakeri, a former Iranian Intelligence Ministry agent, who said the regime believes the blast was sabotage and the explosives could have reached the area disguised by the CIA as equipment imported for the site or defective machinery.
None of the information about an explosion at Fordo has been verified either by US officials or regime sources in Tehran.
Thursday, Jan. 24, Israel’s Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz and Military Intelligence Director Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi ceremonially promoted Col. G., commander of the elite Sayeret Matkal, to the rank of major general in recognition of his unit’s “outstanding covert operations.”

U.S.-Iran talks report may impact Monday debate
On the eve of the last presidential debate – focusing, of course, on foreign policy – the White House is flat-out denying there are any plans for one-on-one talks between the U.S. and Iran on its uranium enrichment program.
The topic is sure to generate fireworks at Monday’s final debate. Is there a secret deal on the table or not?
Reza Kahlili, a pseudonym for a former CIA operative in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and author of the award-winning book “A Time to Betray,” has been reporting for WND that Obama administration officials have already cut a deal with Iran that would end many of the sanctions against the Islamic Republic in exchange for the promise of a temporary halt to uranium enrichment.

In my article “U.S. must actively work for regime change in Iran” published in the Christian Science Monitor on September 12th, I revealed that the Iranian Intelligence Ministry had warned the officials of the possibility of riots due to the devaluation of the Iranian currency and the increasing inflation because of the recent sanctions against the Iranian Central Bank and the Iranian oil industry.
I suggested a path forward showing how the West could support the Iranians change from within this time around. This could help solve the Iranian nuclear problem without having to go to war.
Today riots are taking place in Tehran’s Bazaar to protest against the devaluation of the Iranian currency and the dire economic situation in the country. People are under immense economical pressure. In 2009, it was students and activists who dared to come out and demonstrate against the Islamic regime, which the majority resented. Now they are joined by the hungry masses from around the country.
This is an opportunity for the West to assist with a regime change in Iran, which would not only benefit the Iranian people, but the entire region and the world.
Without the Islamic regime,a moderate Iran would help stabilize the Middle East, weaken Hezbollah in Lebanon, Assad in Syria, Taliban in Afghanistan and would halt the spread of terrorism around the world.
The Iranian people are some of the most Westernized in the region. Tens of thousands have given their lives to the cause of freedom and democracy. If we fail to help and support them this time, the radicals will get the bomb, will use the bomb, and humanity will see the greatest destruction and depression in its history.
A nuclear exchange in the Persian Gulf will stop all oil flow from that region and collapse the global economy. This will create chaos, havoc and provide the exact environment which the fanatics ruling Iran believe will accommodate the coming of Shiite’s twelfth Imam, “Mahdi,” who in their belief will then conquer the world and raise the flag of Islam across the globe. This, in effect, will create the Caliphate they are working toward.
I also believe that due to the current environment in the Middle East and the situation with the global economy, it is highly unlikely that America and the European Union will have the stomach for a conflict with Iran. Russia and China, Iran’s long term allies, have already objected to any action in response to Iran’s pursuit of the bomb, suggesting that the only viable solution is through negotiations.
Although a nuclear-armed Iran is an existential threat to Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fully knows the consequences if Israel goes at it alone.
Any attack on Iran by any entity, if not combined with a goal of regime change, will prove unfruitful. Hence the importance of getting the people of Iran informed and involved in a movement for regime change.
Today, it is imperative that we provide secure communications to the Iranian people so that information can be sent to them to help them get united and ready. They need to know that the West will stand by them and their aspirations for freedom.
1= Start a HD radio program into Iran
Taken into consideration that the majority of Iranians get their news from the state-run media which is directly controlled by radicals ruling Iran and that the Internet communication is under the ultimate control of the Islamic Republic, it is of utmost importance to provide Iranians with a channel of information which is less likely to be blocked by the regime and which provides less of a risk to Iranians to access.
2= Provide secured communication to the Iranians.
- Provide technological tools to Iranian opposition which will allow them to independently unite every segment of Iranian society in their pursuit of a better life.
- Utilize those tools to overcome current communications restrictions by the Iranian government including oppressive monitoring and imprisonment.
- Enable free exchange of information on threats of Iranian leadership, and empower the opposition to independently guide the populace for a peaceful transition to full democracy.
3= Promotion of civil rights in Iran.
4= Promotion of civil disobedience, peaceful protests and national strikes.
5= Taking the Iranian leaders to International courts for crimes against humanity.
6= Promoting defection of the current officers in the regime.
Many within the regime are ready and willing to defect and provide valuable information. However there is no one certain channel that they can rely on or trust, we need to establish that channel and help the defectors with a safe passage to a secure location. Every defection will widen the current existing crack within the regime and will help with the fall from within.
7= Formation of a temporary government in Exile.
8= Openly supporting the aspirations of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy.

Today is the 11th anniversary of 9/11; the “Pearl Harbor of the 21st Century.” On September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists, well educated young men – Saudi, Egyptian, and Yemeni nationals – hijacked four airliners (American Airlines Flight 11 and United Flight 175 from Boston’s Logan airport, American Airlines Flight 77 from Dulles airport and United Airlines Flight 93 from Newark Airport). With captive passengers aboard, they flew into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Brave actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 led to the first counter-attack within thirty minutes of the sky-jacking. The Flight 93 heroes overcame the Islamic terrorists and diverted the aircraft from its ultimate target the Capital building in Washington, crashing into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania instead. All told 19 Jihadi hijackers and more than 2,977 innocent victims including the 246 air passengers on the four planes seized were killed as a result of the murderous jihad airborne attacks in lower Manhattan, northern Virginia and southwestern Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3000 innocent victims perished in a Jihadic holocaust masterminded by the late Osama Bin Laden. Bin laden, who founded Al Qaeda, was killed by US Navy Seal team six on May 2, 2011 in a raid on a compound in Abbattobad, Pakistan, virtually within sight of the Pakistani Military Academy. The special operations, known as Operation Neptune Spear, is chronicled in a new book, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden, published today, by one of the Seal team commanders, who adopted the nom de plume Mark Owens. As the author said on a CBS 60 Minutes interview, “we were just doing our job” in an operation long in the planning stages and fraught with daunting difficulties, including the crash of one the stealth Black Hawk helicopters. According to the author’s account, the operations yielded a treasure trove of intelligence in the long war against Islamic Jihadism. This despite Pentagon accusations that No Easy Day may have violated Pentagon security reviews, although the author insists that no real secrets were revealed.
Within days of arrival of Seal team Six back in the US, a tableau was organized by President Obama at Fort Campbell Kentucky, home of the famed Screaming Eagles, the 101st Airborne to celebrate this victory in the counterterrorism war against Al Qaeda, the murder of Bin Laden, the creator of an Islamic terror enterprise that has morphed into a global jihadist network. The Seal Team Six team involved was flown to Fort Campbell in an old C-130 aircraft that survived the failed attempt during the Carter Administration to rescue the 44 hostages taken by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards at the US Embassy in 1980. President Obama congratulated the Seal Team Six raiders at the Fort Campbell event and, according to No Easy Day author Owens, asked who pulled the trigger that killed Bin Laden. As Owens said during the 60 Minutes interview, no one stepped forward, because they viewed these successful special operations as a team effort.
President Obama has promoted the view that the death of Bin Laden marked the end of the war against Al Qaeda after years of intelligence gathering and a lucky break that identified the Al Qaeda courier that lead to the Seal Team Six raid on the Abbattobad compound. He has always maintained that the US counterterrorism effort following 9/11 was not a war on Islam. Both he and former President Bush propounded the catechism that the US was engaged in a war against Al Qaeda and not against Islam, “a religion of peace.” The Obama Administration in cooperation with Muslim Brotherhood affiliates in America undertook a thorough purging of Islamic jihad doctrine underpinning of the credo of Al Qaeda as exemplified by the radical Sunni ideologue Sayyid Qutb in his book Milestones. Qutb helped foster an unrelenting violent Jihad war against unbelievers so as to impose a world Islamic Caliphate governed under Sharia law.
The Obama counterterrorism doctrine led to a selective drone war involving targeted assassinations of Al Qaeda leaders of affiliates across the Muslim Ummah in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen. The Administration finds itself in a quandary, while trying to foster a peace deal with former Afghan enemy the Taliban, the State Department ponders designation of the Haqqani network in neighboring Pakistan as a foreign terrorist group. Haqqani is allegedly supported by Jihadist cadres of the nefarious Inter-Service Intelligence agency.
The Pentagon has unfortunately denied the realities of homegrown Muslim terrorists within the US Military. We have Maj. Nidal Hasan, whose court martial trial is about to begin at Fort Hood Texas on charges of committing a murderous Jihad massacre of soldiers and civilians at a deployment processing center in November 2009. Then there was AWOL 101st Airborne Pvt. Naser Jason Abdo who was tried and convicted at a federal court in Killeen, Texas on charges of planning another attack at Fort Hood to avenge US military combat against his Muslim brothers in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the 9/11 Iran Links trial in the Federal District Court in Manhattan, we learned that the Islamic Republic of Iran was deeply involved in facilitating training and transportation of the 9/11 perpetrators. The Islamic Republic now threatens a super version of 9/11 via a possible nuclear holocaust or Electronic Magnetic Pulse (EMP) attack against the US and its ally, the Jewish State of Israel with nuclear weapons and other forms of WMD. An Islamic Republic whose Supreme Leader and Revolutionary Guard earnestly believe that such apocalyptic acts will make the Imam Mahdi re-appear to lead an Islamic Army to conquer the world.
In commemoration of 11th anniversary of 9/11, we solicited essays in response to a question: “Is the War Against Islamic Terrorism Over? And if not, what remains to be done?”
What follows are selected essays submitted by a diverse group of scholars and experts. From these respondents we selected essays by Dr. Richard L. Rubenstein, noted theologian, former university president and author of Jihad and Genocide, Professor Paul Eidelberg is President of the Israel – American Renaissance Institute, Daniel Mandel, is a Fellow in History of the University of Melbourne, Director of the Zionists of America Center for Middle East Policy, Shoshana Bryan, Director of the Washington, DC based Jewish Policy Center, and Reza Kahlili former CIA-agent who did undercover work inside Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. We appreciate all of the submissions made.
Dr. Richard L. Rubenstein – On Terrorism
Richard L. Rubenstein is President Emeritus of the University of Bridgeport and Lawton Distinguished Professor of Religion Emeritus at Florida State University and author of many works including most recently, Jihad and Genocide.
It is very likely that there will always be some Muslims somewhere willing to blow themselves up or otherwise inflict harm on the non-Muslim world. According to a 2009 report of the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, the total world Muslim population at the time was 1.57 billion and growing (“Mapping the Muslim Population”). We ought to keep in mind Bernard Lewis’ comment that the struggle between Islam and Christendom has consisted in “a long series of attacks and counterattacks, jihads and crusades, conquests and reconquests” that have lasted over fourteen hundred years. (“The Roots of Muslim Rage,” The Atlantic, September 1990) There is no reason to believe that the cycle of attack and counterattack has stopped in our time. There is no such thing as an end to Islamic terrorism.
Terrorism is not a combatant in a conflict. It is a strategy used by combatants. As long as there are Muslims who believe that violent aggression is a legitimate strategy to be employed against unbelievers, the world will be afflicted with Islamic terrorism to one degree or another. When the West is strong and undeceived, there will be fewer terrorists; when the West lets down its guard, terrorism will increase.
Unfortunately, America’s hands have been tied by the Obama administration’s refusal realistically to identify the Muslim motivation of terroristic acts. By no means did all Muslims approved of 9/11 nor do they all approve of terrorism. Nevertheless, this writer believes that President George W. Bush did the country a disservice when, ten days after 9/11, he declared to a joint session of the U.S. Congress that the 19 terrorists were “traitors to their own faith, trying in effect to hijack Islam itself.” Professor Mary Habeck of Johns Hopkins University was closer to the mark when she observed concerning Sayyid Qutb and Hassan al-Banna, the thinkers who inspired Al-Qaeda that “None of these theorists could have had any impact in the Muslim world if their arguments had not found some sort of resonance in the religion of Islam.” (Knowing the Enemy, Yale University Press, 2006, p. 41).
When Islamists find a realistic opportunity for jihad, there is simply no inducement non-Muslims can offer that will move them abandon their efforts. As the Islamic Affairs Department of the Royal Saudi Embassy in Washington posted on its website, the purpose of jihad is “to make the word of Allah supreme in the world.” The 9/11 terrorists were willing to sacrifice themselves in order to kill thousands and damage both the nation’s financial and political centers. They saw their sacrifice and the death they inflicted on unbelievers as their supreme service of Allah. They were not afraid of death; they welcomed it.
Nevertheless, while there is nothing the West can do to bring terrorism to an end, there are things it can do to minimize the threat. In addition to airport security, immigration control is in need of attention. We must cease to regard all or almost all human beings as equally eligible to become citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Human beings are not numerical abstractions. Some men and women come to our shores passionately committed to transforming our society into one in which Shari’a law governs all Americans either directly or indirectly, whether Muslim or non-Muslim. Something must be done about our immigration policies. Unfortunately, nothing will be done as long as craven politicians regard such newcomers as potential members of their political base. While we cannot control the opinions or commitments of American citizens, we certainly have the right to determine realistically which immigrants are likely to accept our fundamental values and reject those who are likely to seek to overturn our system. We did it during the Cold War. There is no reason why we cannot defend ourselves now.
Unfortunately, as long as our educational and cultural institutions are committed to multiculturalism, we will have neither a moral nor a cultural compass. There is something weird about the current liberal-left alliance with Islam. Should it continue, the day will come when the liberals, who prize their freedom above all else, will find that they no longer have any freedom because the system has been rigged and the “word of Allah” has truly been made supreme in their world.
Finally, a word should be said about the problem of infiltration into our government and prison system. If, for example, persons with connections to the Muslim Brotherhood continue to serve as senior advisors to our government, we are asking for trouble. Admittedly, the situation is worse in Europe but, unfortunately, under Obama we are becoming more, not les,s like Europe.
Paul Eidelberg: The Tragedy of 9/11 and American Exceptionalism
Professor Eidelberg is President of the Israel–America Renaissance Institute and expert in Constitutional Law.
What may we learn from 9/11, the Islamic attack on the United States on September11, 2001? Osama bin Laden had already declared war against the U.S. on August 23, 1996. Al Qaeda forces had already attacked two American embassies in Africa on August 7, 1998 and a U.S. naval vessel on October 12, 2000. So what is so significant about 9/11 when hijacked commercial airliners struck the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon?
Of course, we cannot forget that almost 3,000 innocent human beings were murdered on that day by Muslims terrorists. They were cheered as martyrs throughout the Arab-Islamic world. Let us try to elicit the significance of this tragedy and its relation to American Exceptionalism.
Consider the targets struck on 9/11: the World Trade Center, the pinnacle of commercial wealth, and the Pentagon, the seat of unequaled military power. Juxtaposing these two targets we behold monuments of a secular democratic State whose scientific technology stands in stark contrast to pre-modern, feudal Islam—now on the path to acquiring that technology. Evident here is a theological conflict, which America, steeped in materialism, does not want to face.
America has become the avant guard of pop culture. This pop culture is spreading throughout the world as a result of America’s commercial and military hegemony—indicative of America’s own ambitious albeit benign imperialism.
This benign imperialism has been vulgarizing humanity. It has magnified hedonism. It has undermined spiritual values. It has stultified the mind by removing reverence from the human soul.
Pop culture constitutes the greatest threat to all tradition-based societies whose core is religious. This is one reason why Muslims deem America the “Great Satan”—the great tempter. Let us face the truth: America’s political and intellectual leaders have abandoned America’s Biblical heritage abbreviated in her Declaration of Independence.
That document affirms the Creator of heaven and earth. It proclaims that “all men are created equal.” The same document refers to the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” the basis of man’s unalienable rights to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” The same document appeals to the “Supreme Judge” of the world. This is not only a political document. No, it is also theological document that acknowledges Divine Providence.
Clearly, the Declaration of Independence is based on ideas drawn from the Bible of Israel and should be understood as a Judeo-Christian document. This, dear reader, is the only solid foundation of American Exceptionalism. It is the heart and soul of America which has been abandoned by its political and intellectual leaders.
Let us open our eyes and understand the metapolitical significance of the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon—the monoliths of a secular democratic state that has lost its purpose as a nation under God.
America has become a norm less democracy, where freedom and equality have no rational and ethical constraints, where wealth is the measure of human worth, where the here and now is the preoccupation of men and women, where change, change, change devalues all values, shatters personal identity, erodes a sense of community and national purpose.
9/11 should have been a wake-up call, but not merely to an external “Axis of Evil.” That evil was superficially and misleadingly identified as “international terrorism,” when in truth that evil was the most aggressive manifestation of Islamic Imperialism, the successor to Atheistic Communist Imperialism. Yes, this resurgence of evil has to be countered by unrelenting force. Unlike the Soviet Union, however, the threats issuing from Islam are perceived by liberals as a manifestation of a peace-loving religion.
Those threats come from everywhere yet cannot be attributed to anyone. Not that this Hydra-headed evil is invincible; but to vanquish it we need to overcome our own homegrown evil: the erosion of America’s ancient faith. This faith we can find in ourselves; it only needs to be awakened to inaugurate a new chapter of American Exceptionalism.
I mentioned the Declaration, its reference to the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.” These laws were understood in colonial America as the Noahide laws of universal morality. These laws enable diverse men and nations to cooperate, to live in peace while cultivating their own personal and national customs. These metapolitical laws, the true foundation of the American Constitution, united the American people. They underlie the tremendous power and accomplishments of American Exceptionalism. They made the American Constitution a viable model for mankind, a model that can reconcile permanence and change by means of the rule of law sustained by a set of institutions designed to maximize reason and deliberation, as well as moderation in public affairs.
No longer does America offer this model for mankind. America’s ruling class has lost sight of the theological and moral foundations of America’s Declaration of Independence, the soul of the American Constitution. What has happened in America? I will tell you in a direct way:
What you most boast of, freedom and equality, are corrupting you. Your unrestrained freedom spawns licentiousness and undermines the family. Your indiscriminate equality undermines excellence and levels all moral distinctions. Your ever-expanding government and entitlements eviscerate personal responsibility and self-government. Your value-free capitalism fosters avarice and envy. Your university-bred doctrine of multicultural relativism erodes national loyalty and fosters atheism and cynicism.
This is the result of turning away from the Noahide laws which the Declaration of Independence abbreviated as the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.” This is what bonds Israel and America in the crisis of our times signified by 9/11. We need to redeem that terrible tragedy. We need to engage in serious soul-searching. We must not only redeem ourselves, but we must also make the victims of 9/11 meaningful so that their lives will not have perished in vain.
Let us therefore cease worshiping, without neglecting, wealth and power, which we shall sorely need in the crisis of our times. But let us also cease worshiping the false god of norm less or live-as-you-like democracy and restore the normative and dignified democracy of our Founding Fathers. Let us revive the vision to which American Exceptionalism aspired. Let us build a nation where freedom dwells with virtue, equality with excellence, wealth with beauty, the here and now with love of the Eternal.
Daniel Mandel – The Long War against Islamic terrorism
Daniel Mandel is a Fellow in history at Melbourne University, Director of the Zionist Organization of America’s Center for Middle East Policy and author of H.V. Evatt & the Establishment of Israel (London: Routledge, 2004).
“Is the War Against Islamic Terrorism Over?” The answer is no. A war cannot be said to be over when the aggressor, al-Qaeda, remains a going concern of any size and reach; when its original Afghan base and supportive Pakistani hinterland remain receptive hosts; when Iran, bankroller and controller of several Islamist terror groups, has edged ever closer towards a nuclear weapons capability and the benefits and immunities this would encompass; when the jihadist cause has been taken up in several countries; and when those of its ideological compatriots sophisticated enough to abstain from its trademark terrorism in preference for the careful, patient work of foreign subversion continue to make progress, often undetected at the time. This goes doubly when those ideological compatriots, the Muslim Brotherhood and associated franchises, to give them their name, have risen to power in the most powerful and populous Arab state, Egypt. Still more so, when the formerly most staunchly secular of Muslim states, Turkey, has come since 9/11 ever more firmly under the sway of patient Islamists.
According, what remains to be done is, first, to absorb the fact that our victories (Iran, Afghanistan) have been but partial and may prove temporary; second, to understand that the patient, non-violent jihadists remain by far our deepest long-term threat and accordingly require a great deal more of our efforts; third, that the war will be lost, whatever other successes we might enjoy, if we fail in our paramount objective of preventing Iran from going nuclear; and fourth, ensuring that we head off the looming danger of a depleted U.S. military which, shorn of innovations and numbers as it currently stands to be, would drastically overextend its mission and invite avoidable disasters.
Shoshana Bryen – The Symbiotic Relationship between Terrorists and Sponsors
Shoshana Bryen is the Director of the Washington, DC-based Jewish Policy Center.
“War” against any pathology is doomed. The Wars on Drugs, Poverty and Terrorism have no matrix for success, so you wouldn’t know when you’d won; you could never stop fighting. President Bush’s formulation, “The war against terrorists and the states that harbor and support them,” got to the heart of the symbiotic relationship between terrorists and their sponsors – terrorists need money, territory, arms, passports, etc. that can only be supplied by states; states need the ability to commit mayhem with plausible deniability (i.e., Saudi support for al Qaeda). The war would be won when the territory across the region is governed by sovereigns who decline support for transnational terrorist organizations. Without such support, you would still have isolated incidents – a man in a marketplace with a grenade – but the large-scale, country-changing, spectacular terrorism of 9-11 or Bali or London would be almost impossible. This does not mean those governments would be our friends, be democratic, like Israel, be secular, and/or not have wars. It simply means that support for al Qaeda and other such would dry up. To the question of whether we’re winning – no. Particularly in the past two years, the Obama administration has withdrawn from Iraq (which was fragile), overthrew the Libyan government (which was anti-al Qaeda and now supports al Qaeda across North Africa and in Mali), and welcomed the Muslim Brotherhood while doing nothing to constrain Iran or Saudi Arabia (who support opposite sides, but both of whose sides hate us). The incentive for governments to withhold support for anti-Western or anti-Israel terrorism has been reduced, not increased by the Obama Administration.
Reza Kahlili – Iran’s Terrorist Threat Exceeds that of Bin Laden
Reza Kahlili is the pseudonymous author of A Time to Betray, an award winning chronicle of his undercover work as a CIA-agent inside Iran’s Revolutionary guard. The following is an adaptation of an opinion article originally published by Fox News in the immediate wake of the death of Bin Laden in may 2011.
The demise of Bin Laden should be the beginning of our search as to how we got into such vulnerable position in the first place. We must make sure that no enemy can ever again be allowed to bring harm upon us because of our own failings.
Bin Laden, who founded Al Qaeda in the late eighties, began terrorizing the world shortly thereafter with bombing attacks in Yemen, Egypt, and the U.S. Embassy in East Africa where over 300 souls lost their lives. The U.S. did not take notice until October, 2000 when the suicide attack on the USS Cole took 17 servicemen’s lives.
Bin Laden was emboldened with each subsequent act of terror because the lack of action by U.S. was seen as a weakness and further verification that he was invincible. Clearly, it appeared to him, Allah was on his side.
He then began his most aggressive act and took it directly from the Koran (8:12): “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.”
His commitment was total and led to the most heinous crime ever executed on America soil 11 years ago. It instigated our fight on terror and the ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Billions of dollars have been spent, draining our economy to the point of bankruptcy, and costing the lives of thousands of our heroes. Yet it is our failure to know and understand the enemy and the ideology that drives him that allowed one hateful individual to grow so powerful as to bring us to such profound harm.
There is an eerie similarity here with the radicals ruling Iran. They proudly bombed the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983 killing over 240 of our best and then boasted about it. Mohsen Rafiqdoost, then the Minister of the Revolutionary Guards, publicly stated that: “Both the TNT and the ideology, which in one blast sent to hell 400 officers, NCOs, and soldiers at the Marine’s headquarters, were provided by Iran.” In response, we removed our forces from Lebanon.
The Iranians formed Hezbollah, helped Islamic Jihad, armed and trained terrorists across the region and took hostages with fatal results. For their efforts, we rewarded them with arms in exchange for the freedom of a few (Iran Contra). Our actions, or lack thereof, again signaled our weakness and affirmed their belief that Allah is the one and only God and that they have his protection.
The Iranian leaders, encouraged with their continuing success, became ever more aggressive carrying out terrorist attacks through their proxies such as the Khobar Tower bombing in Saudi Arabia and the Jewish community center bombing in Argentina. And the West meekly offered negotiations as the only solution to their atrocious acts. The Iranians have for years armed and trained Shiite militias in Iraq with a strategy to bring down our forces, harm them, and drain the U.S. economically. Given the evidence in the 9/11 Links case in New York, we know that Iran was directly complicit in facilitating the training and transportation of the Munich Cell of the 9/11 perpetrators from Al Qaeda Bases in Afghanistan to Iran to Saudi Arabia and eventually on to Europe and America.
Today the jihadists in Tehran, strengthened by their actions and reassured by their beliefs, know that they are Allah’s chosen ones to bring about the demise of America and the destruction of Israel. They are encouraged to aggressively continue on with their terrorist activities around the world, and their ongoing support of terrorist groups including Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Al Qaeda, Taliban, and others in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen and Africa. All the while, they expand their missile delivery system and achievement of their nuclear bomb project nearly within reach.
The Revolutionary Guards currently hold more than a 1,000 ballistic missiles capable of reaching Tel Aviv, Riyadh, U.S. bases in Iraq, the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and capitals in Western Europe. At the same time, they are working with the North Koreans and the Chinese on intercontinental ballistic missiles and the nuclear weaponization of their warheads. Iran has tested launch of Scud Missiles from commercial vessels in the Caspian Sea demonstrating the capability of conducting a possible Electronic Magnetic Pulse attack against the Great Satan, America, and its ally, Israel, the little Satan.
Many of the Iranian leaders are known terrorists and on the Interpol’s most wanted list. This includes the current Iranian defense minister and former Quds Force commander and the chief intelligence officer of the Guards, Ahmad Vahidi, who is wanted for the 1994 Jewish center bombing in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 and injured hundreds. As the defense minister, Mr. Vahidi is directly responsible for the Iranian nuclear bomb and missile programs, and is also in charge of the proliferation of arms to terrorists in the Middle East and the world.
We cannot allow history to repeat itself. Today we are facing an evil much worse than Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.
Appeasement and vacillation do not work. World peace, global stability and millions of lives are on the line. Our first priority should be to stop these radicals in their tracks and to help Iranians free themselves from this evil. A new regime in Iran could transform the world for the better securing global stability and an end to much of terrorism throughout the world.
New English Review
by Jerry Gordon (September 2012)
Recently, I had the occasion to talk about Iran’s nuclear project with a former senior military officer. His initial comment to me brought me up short. “Why does the world care about whether Iran gets the Bomb? Are you telling me that they are as crazy as the North Koreans?” To which I replied, “Yes.” That appeared to jar him. He replied, “then that’s frightening.” If that is any indication then the media and the Obama White House have failed to inform America of how dangerous the Islamic regime’s possession of nuclear weapons is. This is a clear and present danger to Israel, America, the West and Iran’s own people. All the news about US and EU economic sanctions, failed UN negotiations, IAEA and US national intelligence estimates have warned that Iran has accelerated uranium enrichment to weapons-grade levels. Israel is allegedly making preparations for a possible unilateral attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. What is behind the Ayatollahs’ pursuit of this threat to the world?
During our involvement with the recent Electronic Armageddon program of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, we were fortunate to have made the acquaintance of ex-CIA agent, the pseudonymous Reza Kahlili, author of the award winning book, A Time to Betray: the Astonishing Double Life of a CIA Agent inside the Revolutionary Guards of Iran. A Time to Betray made Washington Post’s Book World Bestsellers list in 2012. It was a winner of The 2011 International Book Awards in two categories of: Autobiography/Memoirs and Best New Non-Fiction and Winner of The National Best Books 2010 Awards (category: Non-Fiction: Narrative).
Kahlili had firsthand knowledge of the Shiite Mahdist doctrine that propelled the Islamic revolution of 1979. He obtained information on the 35 year effort by the Islamic Republic to acquire and build nuclear weapons threatening an Islamic takeover of the Middle East and ultimately the world.
In a wide ranging interview Kahlili discusses his idyllic upper middle class background that could afford his education in the US and how Iran went from being a largely secular country under the late Shah to become an Islamic theocracy that returned the country to medieval tyranny under Shiite Mahdism. A tyranny that saw women put behind the hijab, tortured, raped and murdered and hundreds of the Iranian Army leaders summarily executed at the notorious Evin prison in Tehran. A tyranny that saw donkey riding Islamic clerics living off meager contributions and handouts rise to become dictators suppressing Iranians, controlling the nation’s economy and threatening the world with nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
Not many Iranian patriots would, as Kahlili did, on a trip to visit an ailing aunt in Los Angeles, reach out to US intelligence to apprize them of the horrors and dangers of the Islamic Republic under founder Ayatollah Khomeini and the Revolutionary Guards. He was compelled to do so after witnessing tortures and executions of innocent fellow Iranians. That encounter in the US led to his recruitment, training in Europe by the CIA and return to Tehran to become an undercover member of the Revolutionary Guards. He secretly informed his handlers on the international and domestic terrorist programs of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Council of Guardians, Revolutionary Guards and its Qod Force. The invaluable information and professional assessment of the personalities and agenda of the Islamic Republic obtained by Kahlili enabled the CIA to maintain a watching brief on the funding, training and arming of terrorist proxies Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad and nuclear and missile delivery programs secretly launched by order of Ayatollah Khomeini.
After spending several years in the 1980’s and 1990’s undercover as a Revolutionary Guard officer, and CIA asset, Kahlili was able to extract both he and his family to Europe and exit to safety in America despite the fact that Kahlili has been a lecturer with the Department of Defense’s Joint Counter-Intelligence Training Academy. A convert to Christianity, Kahlili has recently been attacked in letters sent to Secretary of Defense Panetta by CAIR, for his criticism of Shiite Islamic Doctrine. Fortunately, his valued experiences and insights into Iran’s state sponsorship of terrorism globally are reflected in the support he has received from both senior military and Congressional leaders. His commentary and analysis are frequently published in the Washington Times and The Daily Caller. He has been interviewed about his undercover experience and informative views of the Islamic Republic’s leaders. Watch this November 2010 interview with Erick Stakelbeck, CBN’s premier terrorism analyst.
What follows is a portion of our interview with Reza Kahlili providing insights into the overarching Mahdist doctrine of the Islamic regime’s Supreme Leader and others. The dangers of Iran’s nuclear and WMD programs to Israel and America support and funding of terrorist proxies in the Middle East, Latin America and even cells in America are discussed. Kahlili reveals the deepening hatred of many of Iran’s people to both the regime and its Shiite Mahdist doctrine seeking to create worldwide chaos to foster the re-appearance of 12th Imam Mahdi. Iran’s Supreme Leader under this doctrine would hand the flag to Imam Mahdi to lead the conquest and conversion of the world’s infidels to Islam. Kahlili also speaks about the repercussions of any Israeli pre-emptive attack and the necessity for the US and the West to support regime change in his native Iran. Regime change is earnestly desired by many people in Iran who despise its rulers and Islamic doctrine for their lack of basic freedoms and reduced economic status. Surprisingly as we have found from recent debriefings of travelers to Iran, many people still harbor respect for America and Israel, notwithstanding the failure of the Obama Administration to come to their aid during the uprisings following the June 2009 fraudulent Presidential elections.
You may listen to the entire interview with Kahlili, here.
Jerry Gordon: Reza Kahlili, thank you for taking time out for this timely interview.
Reza Kahlili: Thank you for inviting me.
Gordon: You have written extensively on the Mahdist Twelver Islamic doctrine of Iran’s form of Shiism. Could you tell us what that doctrine is and how it guides the actions of the Supreme Leader, the President and his cabinet and leadership of the Revolutionary Guard Corps?
Kahlili: You see this is embedded within the philosophy on which they act. The Shiites believe that in the end of time Imam Mahdi, the 12th Imam, will reappear and kill all the infidels and raise the flag of Islam in all four corners of the world. This is taught by the clerics, they believe in it and they promote this ideology because in their eyes it’s the ultimate justification where Islam conquers the world and everybody is a Muslim. In every conversation they have, their statements, their actions are representative of that ideology. The majority of the Iranians don’t believe in this. They don’t even see themselves as Muslims. They see themselves as Persians. Even if they respected Islam before the revolution due to cultural customs, now they openly despise Islam. Despise the religion. Despise the clerics and what they said within the Iranian community now cannot be said in America and Europe. There would be ramifications if somebody talked about Islam the way the Iranian people do inside. So we are talking about the minority who are the true believers in Islam and take everything literally from the Quran and martyrdom is welcomed with open arms. They believe that the Islamic regime was put in place by Allah and that the end of days are at hand and their studies of the Hadiths, which are centuries old sayings by prophet Mohammed and his descendants, are representative of what is going to taking shape in the world. They are very excited with what’s happening in the Middle East because they believe these are signs spoken of centuries ago that the end of times is near. The triggers are needed to create that environment for Imam Mahdi to come. Destroying Israel would automatically trigger the coming per the Hadith and in their mind create chaos, havoc, lawlessness, where wars take place. One third of the world population would die due to wars, another third to hunger and the rest live in lawlessness. This theology drives their actions and policies. That is what I’ve been trying to raise awareness among the public. This is serious. You have to look at the Haghani school and other seminaries in the city of Qom which the founder Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi and the Ayatollah Jannati, the powerful chairman of the Guardian Council have established, they promote this idea. Every minister of intelligence has been associated with the Haghani School and they control almost all of the security institutions in the Iranian government. This is a dangerous element that believes they have a mission to create the environment for the coming of the Imam Mahdi. Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution said it himself. He had three goals for the revolution. One was to topple the Shah and the Monarchy, two was to establish an Islamic state and three was to pass the flag of Islam to Imam Mahdi. It was said that within the circles of the top officials in Iran that Ayatollah Khamenei is the one who is going to pass the flag of Islam to Imam Mahdi so they truly believe in this.
Gordon: What are the relations between the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, the Revolutionary Guard, its Qod Force and the Basij and their respective roles in the Islamic Republic’s Domestic and External Terrorism Programs?
Kahlili: The Revolutionary Guards and the Basij and all of the military and security forces are under the control of the Supreme Leader’s office. There cannot be any action done without the approval of the Supreme Leader. The Supreme Leader has the authority to change any commander at any time as Khamenei has done several times. The Revolutionary Guards though, have great influence in the Iranian economy, a big military force in Iran and have an international operation. Yet, they are under the control of the Supreme Leader and the Supreme Leader can change commanders at any time. There is a unit within the Revolutionary Guards called Hefazat Etellaat, protection of intelligence. The commander of that unit is chosen by the Supreme Leader and reports directly to his office. The unit acts independent of the Guards command like the SS within the Nazis. This unit is present in every base, in every building and they report directly to the Supreme Leader’s office. Their intention is to have tight control, even over the Revolutionary Guards. I would say every act in Iran right now is an act that has been approved by the Supreme Leader and his office. Even the media outlets. Not a word can be printed without the approval of the security forces.
Gordon: Could you describe for us the range of external activities of the Qod Force in conducting covert operations in the Middle East and globally?
Kahlili: The Qod Force’s major operation is to collaborate with terrorist proxies, arm them, transfer explosives, cash, and fund them. They run a drug program and counterfeiting operation. They export drugs to create increased unaccounted funds for the Qod Force’s activities and counterfeiting to destabilize the Western countries by printing and circulating U.S. bonds and dollars. Now they have a grand project called, “Time for the Collapse” in which according to this plan they intend to destabilize the West through their terrorist campaign, money laundering and drug trafficking. They have many connections in Europe, Latin America and Africa and other areas where they collaborate with Hezbollah and drug cartels. The collaboration with drug cartels is directed at gaining greater access via infiltration such as is happening in Mexico and from there into the U.S. They have a very complex operation at the center of which is terrorism and destabilization of the West. They have many cells along with Hezbollah here in the U.S. who are ready to commit terrorist acts should there be a confrontation between U.S. and Iran. They also collaborate with many other governments including Venezuela and have established numerous entities in that country. These are front companies that host explosive labs and terror cells. From Venezuela they expand into Latin America, Mexico and the U.S.
Gordon: Given that the Qod Force has fought a 30 year terrorist war with Israel’s Mossad, what anti-Semitic doctrine motivates the Islamic Republic to conduct covert ops and what resources and proxies have been used?
Kahlili: I think the central delusion of Western leaders is that they refuse to understand the ideology behind the actions of the Islamic regime. Basically the ideology of the radicals in Iran is to stand against every principle of Western society. The Qod Forces are an element of that radical minority which runs Iran. It is truly committed to its goal of destroying Israel, destroying America and basically creating an environment for the re-appearance of the Imam Mahdi. He will lead them to kill the rest of the infidels and raise the flag of Islam in all four corners of the world. They truly believe in this and that’s why they are so committed. I think that is what the West refuses to understand and it is going to be our downfall. I published several months ago in November 2011 an analysis by the Qod Forces clearly outlining their philosophy. It said the problem facing Americans regarding the Qod Force is but a small example of the core of their problem with the entire Islamic Revolution. The most important fact that America and the West have continuously missed is the ideology behind Iran’s destiny. Its doctrine knows no boundaries and it stands in diametric opposition to the most basic principles and fundamental forms of Western civilization. They are saying to the West that their ideology is in opposition to basic principles of the Western civilization and you can’t change that. There is nothing you can do to bring about a change of behavior and therefore the failure of the approach that every U.S. Administration has taken. They don’t understand that this ideology stands against the West. You cannot change that because if you were able to change that then that ideology no longer exists and that can’t happen.
Gordon: Why has the Islamic Republic pursued the development of nuclear weapons and the means of delivery including wide ranging missiles and what third parties assisted them?
Kahlili: From early on the Soviet Union and then Russia was deeply involved with this regime helping the Guards with their intelligence operators to consolidate power for the clerics. Then the Chinese got involved and they helped with the missile program and even the nuclear program by bringing the Islamic regime and North Korea together which continues the collaboration to this day. The Chinese are helping the Islamic regime with the inter-continental ballistic missile technology that the regime will test very soon. They are sharing data on the nuclear detonations that North Korea conducted. Even that action is being financed by the Islamic Regime. The regime started this project for a nuclear bomb in the mid 1980′s. This is a fact and nobody is talking about it. We had intelligence that Iraq’s Saddam Hussein was looking to purchase actual bombs and he had approached the black market through Pakistan and others. The story was that the chief commander of the Guards asked permission from Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, to authorize acquiring the nuclear bomb and it was authorized. A document to this effect surfaced many years ago within Iran and then it disappeared, however, there was an actual authorization by Ayatollah Khomeini for the nuclear bomb. At that time the Guards approached the Pakistanis with billions of dollars to buy a bomb. They ended up with centrifuges instead and help from A.Q. Khan with the program. After the fall of the Soviet Union they approached the former Soviet Republics to purchase bombs. The news is they have two nuclear bombs however; there is no confirmation that they have the codes. People here in the U.S. believe that they do but a source within the intelligence unit of the Guards indicated that he is not positive. Recently I published an article saying that the Guards had distributed WMD’s to terrorist groups such as Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad. These are chemical and biological weapons. The article was based on a Revolutionary Guards’ statement within its own organization media outlet. They confirmed that a nuclear bomb was acquired from the former Soviet Republics and that this program has been going on for decades. They currently have enough enriched uranium to produce six nuclear bombs. They are enriching uranium at two facilities that we know of. The intention is once the missiles are armed with nuclear warheads they become untouchable. A single nuclear detonation in the Persian Gulf would stop the oil flow from the Persian Gulf because of contamination. It could take years before a drop of oil could be exported. Thus the world could be taken hostage because the global economy could collapse if such an incident takes place. Their strategy is to attack Israel through proxies, further infiltrate European and American society, commit terrorist acts, and hostage taking, and expand power in the Middle East confronting Saudi Arabia by creating instability in Bahrain, and helping the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Khamenei has recently said that there were events transpiring right now that will affect the political and social environment of the world for good and Islam is the leader of the pact. That is just the bare minimum. I believe that because of their belief in the end of times and that the time is close at hand for Imam Mahdi to re-appear, they will get the bomb. They will use the bomb. They will destroy Israel. They will collapse the global economy. There will be major wars and we’ll see one of the greatest depressions humanity has ever seen. They believe at that time the Shiite 12th Imam will reappear and conquer the world.
Gordon: What is the decision making process within the Islamic Republic for launch of weapons of mass destruction against Israel and the United States?
Kahlili: You have to look deeply into the mind and ideology of Hassan Rahimpour Azghodi and other of Ayatollah Khomeini’s closest advisors. The Supreme Leader and figures such as Mesbah Yazdi and Janniti believe they are mandated to create an environment for the coming of Imam Mahdi. They believe one or two nuclear weapons launched against Israel would destroy Israel. There would be retaliation and millions of Iranians would die, innocent Iranians who oppose this regime and then there would be chaos throughout the world. There would be missile launches against Saudi Arabia and European capitals. They think at that time Imam Mahdi would return. This appears to Westerners who have lived with logic and the consequences of the bad behavior, not to make sense. We all automatically refute this and believe that nobody is that crazy. However, they are. One reason for it is why not give up the program? Why not collaborate with the West? Why not have the sanctions removed and have better ties with the West? You know if you just want to gain power. If you want to hold power, why not provide for the people and you will have power, unlimited power and nobody is threatening to attack anymore. Why hold on to this nuclear program at all costs? They have shown that they are not logical people by Western standards. They are not rational people as some U.S. officials have suggested. If you look at it even from a Western point of view, Iran having the nuclear bomb would automatically create chaos. There would be proliferation, there would be confrontation, and they would become untouchable. The Persian Gulf is going to become a destabilized region. Oil prices are going to go up automatically with every word said. Israel doesn’t know if there is going to be a launch one day or the next. That cannot be allowed. The statement that if Iran has the nuclear bomb then Saudi Arabia and others would want it is simplistic. Look at Pakistan having nuclear bombs. We have to spend billions of dollars to bribe them in order to protect those nuclear bombs. We are worried about that and yet we have the Pakistani government as an ally. Now the Islamic regime is an enemy not only to the Iranian people but to Israel, the US and the West. The Iranians having the nuclear bomb would unhinge the region and the world.
Gordon: You have cited information on existing neutron electromagnetic weapons in the possession of the Islamic Republic that might be used in a possible electronic magnetic pulse or EMP attack on the U.S. and Israel. What is the nature of that threat and does Iran have the capability of launching such an attack?
Kahlili: I received this information from an intelligence officer within the Guards who recently defected to a country in Europe. I passed that intelligence on to U.S. authorities and published it publicly. They have several neutron bombs. Now we know for a fact that North Korea has these super EMP bombs which are neutron bombs. The source told me that in a meeting of the security officials of the Guards a plan was discussed where they would detonate these neutron bombs in the atmosphere. We know that they have successfully launched ballistic missiles off of a ship in the Caspian Sea, detonating the warhead in the atmosphere. The IAEA has confirmed such activity which is in line with an EMP threat, Electromagnetic Pulse attack. I also revealed that many of the Iranian vessels have been armed with long range ballistic missiles. This could be a commercial vessel under a third party flag with containers carrying a ballistic missile. A ballistic missile could be launched in less than 60 seconds. They are expanding this mission to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico using a scenario involving a commercial vessel enroute to Venezuela, Cuba, or Nicaragua. They could launch a successful Electromagnetic Pulse Attack on the U.S. Studies have been done for Congress showing that the devastation from a successful Electromagnetic Pulse attack on U.S. would be immediate. The U.S. could be sent back to the 18th century because our power grid is not protected. Telecommunication, water supplies and food distribution would be disrupted. Within weeks the study pointed out that Americans would be scavenging for food and water. One year after such an attack, two thirds of U.S. population could cease to exist. The Iranians have practiced a possible EMP ship borne attack. Arming their ballistic missiles with neutron bombs they could launch an Electromagnetic Pulse Attack on any country.
Gordon: Recently you cited sources in IRGC Publications indicating that Iran has transferred WMD to terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas. Could you tell us what that WMD consists of and is that an escalation of threat to Israel?
Kahlili: It is definitely an escalation. Iran has warned about the situation in Syria and made it clear that they cannot afford Assad to be overthrown. They will not allow it and a possible joint war effort looms coordinated by the Islamic Regime in Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. They would attack as a united front against the opposition. What is alarming is they are saying clearly that chemical, biological and nuclear bombs, weapons of mass destruction, could be used against Israel and those involved with the unraveling in Syria. They are blaming it on Israel and so they have said that armed groups have been equipped with such weapons. Once the order is given such weapons could be used against Tel Aviv. They have also talked about nuclear bombs acquired from the former Soviet Republics. This is verification on the information I put out last year about Iran having purchased nuclear bombs after the fall of the Soviet Union from the former Republics, this is a serious threat. We know that the Islamic Regime has a vast stockpile of chemical weapons. They mastered that during the Iran – Iraq war because Saddam was using these weapons against the Iranian Forces. We know Syria has a huge stockpile of chemical weapons and now we have the verification that those chemical and biological weapons have been transferred to Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad. Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, said recently that they have weapons and that tens of thousands of Israelis would die. Now we are dealing with weapons of mass destruction with terrorist groups and the seriousness of the threat of the Islamic Regime building nuclear bombs. They will not hesitate to develop and use dirty bombs. Somehow they will transfer them to Hezbollah to equip smaller missiles or suitcase bombs. That is why the proliferation and consequences would create chaos and uncertainty destabilizing the world. We are living in very sensitive times and I think we need to take these threats seriously. We are dealing with chemical and biological weapons and have further concerns because we know they have cells in the U.S. I have passed some of this information to U.S. authorities.
Gordon: There have been extensive reports of the Qod Force and Hezbollah cells in the Western hemisphere. Should this be of concern to both Latin America and North America?
Kahlili: Yes. Many countries in Latin America are being infiltrated by agents of the Islamic regime with money and oil. Venezuela is a major hub for them. They have agents in Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Bolivia. They are arming and training cadres. The regime is using front companies based in these Latin American countries with the goal of helping to build homes, roads and infrastructure. These front companies have approached not only the Islamic community in these Latin American countries but also impoverished indigenous populations. Many Latin American countries are in a dire financial situation. The front companies recruit local assets, send them back to Iran for training, bring them back and give them a mission. In my book, A Time to Betray, I reported on the lawless triangle where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. There is virtually no police presence there thus the zone enables Iran to infiltrate, transfer arms and provide cash to recruit terrorists. They are currently sending cells to Paraguay, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Bolivia. This is a threat to the Western hemisphere.
Gordon: Sanctions and diplomacy have not forced the Islamic Republic to halt their Nuclear Development Program. Israel appears poised to launch a possible unilateral attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. What is your view on that possibility, the involvement of Iran’s proxies Hezbollah and Hamas and the likely affects on the people of Iran and what alternative actions might achieve the same end?
Kahlili: When President Obama took office I wrote an open letter to him reminding the new President that negotiations and even sanctions will not work; we learned that the hard way. When President Obama took office Iran had barely enough enriched uranium for one nuclear bomb. Today they have enough for over six. They have enriched to the 20 percent level which is 80 percent of the way to weaponization where before they were limited to the 3-1/2 percent level. They have even indicated that they are going to enrich to higher levels reaching closer to weaponization. By appeasing the Islamic Regime we turned our back on the Iranian people’s aspirations. We had a golden opportunity in 2009 to help the Iranian people to overthrow this regime. This regime could have collapsed within weeks. Internal intelligence reports later showed that had the demonstrations continued for several more weeks the regime could have collapsed. We now find ourselves in a confrontation that could create a major war in the Middle East. They are threatening Israel, they are arming Hezbollah, Islamic jihad, and they are expanding into Latin America with immunity. We have a very dangerous situation on our hands. We can help unify Iranian people, provide satellite internet proxy software for them to communicate with the outside world without the fear of suppression. We can provide satellite phones. We can help form a national council in U.S., to represent the Iranian people and provide a voice for the opposition to unite. All of this talk about the Islamic regime being a strong and united power and what they are going to do is really a bluff. The government has so many cracks within it. We have to take advantage of that. This government could collapse and we could save humanity, prosperity and world peace by helping the Iranian people to overthrow this regime. War alone will not do it. At most we may hit some sites that we know of. If Israel does it alone there will be huge repercussions. There would be hundreds of missiles launched against Israel from all sides. The Persian Gulf would become unstable. Oil prices would immediately go up and Afghanistan would be destabilized. In Iraq there would be a lot of things going on. In Egypt, the Israeli attack on Iran would help Muslim Brotherhood to strengthen their power and confront Israel. Overall there will be a huge unraveling in the Middle East which could affect world peace and the global economy. We should immediately take action to help the Iranian people to voice their resentment against the regime. Demonstrate to the Iranian people that we do not want to negotiate with Islamic regime. For starters, let’s not allow Iranian President Ahmadinejad to come to New York for the U.N. General Assembly meetings in September. Why would we allow that for a national leader who openly calls for the annihilation of another state, Israel? President Obama needs to come out openly, criticize the leaders of the Islamic regime and say this is not tolerable. Let us send some strong signals to the Iranian people, to the Iranian Army, the body of which is supportive of Iran, of Persia. They have been looking for an opportunity to take revenge on this brutal regime that killed hundreds of officers after the revolution. These are actions that we can take to bring about change within Iran.
Gordon: The U.S. government from Carter to Bush and now Obama has been complicit in not recognizing the theocratic oppression of Iran’s people. You and other Iranian expats told us that Iranians not only hate the regime but Islamic doctrine. What in your view should our government do to foster civil opposition and regime change in Iran?
Kahlili: It is very true that the majority of the Iranians hate this regime and the ideology it promotes. Every day the Iranians are exchanging text messages and videos and other forms of media mocking the regime, their leaders, their ideology and what they say. Many are converting to Christianity. The intelligence unit of the Guards is suppressing the converts; intimidating, torturing and now Khamenei ordered tens of thousands of Bibles to be burned because it was deemed not a holy book. What we need to do is provide technology to the Iranian people, foster leadership and they will unite. Right now the Iranian people feel that they are leaderless. They have no direction. You see pockets of demonstrations here and there; however, the vast majority of the people despise this regime. Many despise the religion but have no leadership. After the 2009 fraudulent elections they found the opportunity to come together in opposition to Islamic regime. The West turned its back on them. We need to put together an initiative. One example is beaming a High Definition radio program into Iran that every street, house, cab driver, bus driver will pick up. We can help with providing internet servers, satellites links that the Iranians could immediately access without being tracked. We could provide satellite phones; help with a temporary council to represent them here in the U.S to put everything in place. I have sent this proposal to some in the Congress. Even private entities who are interested in the global economy and world peace could help bring change in Iran. We have people who can put together a plan with intelligence on the Islamic government’s operations, their weaknesses, their entities, and an exact plan where we will know what to do. It seems that nobody is listening especially with the elections coming up. Nobody is focused on this one issue that could unravel the world.
Gordon: Reza, I want to thank you for this important interview. You have presented a challenge to America and the West to wake up and understand what warriors like you and others have told us time and time again about dangerous doctrine of the Islamic regime in Tehran. That we must invest in regime change, support the uprising and freedom of Iranian people. There is an expression in Hebrew, Kol Hakavod, which means outstanding that describes your courage in exposing this frightening tyranny of the Islamic regime. I would hope that if America and its ally Israel adopted and implemented your plan that you might become the leading voice of liberation for your fellow Iranians.
Kahlili: Thank you so much for having me. God bless America and God bless you.
